With the pandemic causing a swifter move over to cashless systems, more vulnerable individuals are seeing a reduced access to physical cash. To help these individuals, who typically rely on cash more than cards, the government has set up the Joint Authorities Cash Statergy group, and passed an amendment that allows consumers to obtain cashback without making a purchase. This is to combat the decline in the free-to-use ATMs.
